As the movie shows, he grows to love every weird bit of it. Goob looks well on his way to this after Lewis wakes him up in time to catch the fly ball and win the game for the Dinos.
Until he meets Doris, and even then he is hopelessly incompetent at being evil. Just after the whole Time Travel adventure has succeeded in setting right what once went wrong, Cornelius Robinson, Lewis' future self, arrives home just in time to see the time machines missing and Lewis standing with the rest of the family.
Well, he's home early. Because you can totally crack the hippocampus with a TV screen, a fan, a vacuum cleaner, a bottle of Mountain Dew and a Discman. Oh, and really comfy headphones. Parodied during a food fight between Franny and her brother, where they talk like characters in a badly dubbed Martial Arts Movie and their lip movements don't match what they're saying. The truth is a lot more sinister: Uh, what do you hope to accomplish with this?

Unfortunately, by that time, he has spent so much time pitying himself that he's become too bitter to notice when people are genuinely nice to him.
It's implied that Bowler Hat Guy will be Ret Gone from existence when he saves his younger self from dropping the baseball and thus turning evil.
The way he leaves Wilbur without saying goodbye implies that he knows this and doesn't want to make a fuss about it. While "Keep Moving Forward" is clearly the moral here, it's not exactly clear if that's always a good idea. Bowler Hat Guy does this after he offers to take Lewis back to find his mom if he repairs the Memory Scanner. Bowler Hat Guy's entire motivation for his time-traveling villainy is to ruin Lewis' life and his future as genius inventor Cornelius Robinson.
At one point, the city skyline of is match-cut to a city skyline prior to the Bowler Hat Guy's attempt to present the Memory Scanner at the InventCo offices. Discussed, where Carl, before sending Lewis back in time, asks him to invent him with a more muscular design.
And it actually comes through. As mentioned above, the writers' time travel logic makes no sense when you think about it. It'd work out a lot better if the Dinosaur didn't show up again when the family said goodbye to Lewis.
The very first scene has Lewis as an infant being left at Mildred's orphanage by his mother. It's probably best not to even start on this one, not the least of which is the main character apparently has Ripple Effect-Proof Memoryand is generally ripple effect proof entirely. Could be justified in that he built it, and could have included fail-safes to ensure that he could restore the natural order if his machines got in the wrong hands.

The second time machine seems to have been left in the present day. A boy, Lewis, is left on the steps of an orphanage by his mother. Anywho, Lewis, our actual star, is having trouble impressing possible parents and has lived his 12 years of life as an orphan alone.
We witness the awkwardness during an interview with possible parents, The Harringtons, who come off boring, stuffed shirt-ish, and unforgiving. I mean, granted Lewis almost killed Mr. Lewis got a freebie on skipping out on this family.
And the fact that in order to deal with the feeling of being unwanted and possibly having no future, he creates a fantasy of his mother having to give him up for some reason, and how she can be the only thing to fulfill his life and restore his future… Lewis is pretty emotionally unstable if you ask me. No big for a super genius wunderkind like Lewis. Lewis enters his memory in the science fair, which is being judged by the science teacher, a representative from big important organization IventCo, and a gym coach who is extrememly built and wears extremely short gym shorts.
And it causes mass chaos on the gymnasium. With Lewis storming out, Bowler Hat Guy is able to steal the memory machine for his own… Uh oh… Lewis gets his sulk on for a hot second, until Wilbur Robinson breaks it up with some pigeon noises and a far fetched story about a stolen time machine, wicked Bowler Hat Guy villain, and the need for Lewis to go back to the science fair and fix his machine.
Meanwhile, the Bowler Hat Guy is launching his evil plan to change the future. Not my best… The Robinsons are complete weirdos. Definitely not staying for dinner. Back in the past, Bowler Hat Guy is desperately searching for Lewis, so that Lewis can get the machine to work and Bowler Hat Guy can get all the glory for it. Goob informs Bowler Hat Guy of his embarrassing afternoon at the baseball game where he fell asleep, missed the catch that could have won the game, and was beat up by the angry members of the team.
Let it fester inside you and fuel your evil actions for the rest of your life. Goob also does well with his scene partner, Mr. Steak, who just add a bit of hilarity to the scene.
Lewis is tinkering away at the time machine… and at the urging of Wilbur to keep moving forward, Lewis almost gets his confidence back… until the time machine burns out in their faces. Meanwhile throughout all of the tribulations… dinosaurs and all… with Lewis and the Robinsons, they have begun falling for him and offer him a place in their family.
And obviously someone who just had their self esteem destroyed is going to fall in with the wrong crowd.
